לילה אחד פחות
יש אנשים שקמים בבוקר אחרי שמונה שעות שינה, מותחים ידיים, פותחים את התריס ואומרים
״איזה לילה נהדר היה לי.״
אני לא מכיר אנשים כאלה באופן אישי.
אני מניח שהם קיימים.
כנראה באיזו שמורת טבע מוגנת בצפון אירופה, לצד דובי קוטב, חד קרן ואנשים שהילדים שלהם נכנסים למיטה בשמונה בערב ונשארים בה עד הבוקר.
אצלי, שינה היא פחות פעולה פיזיולוגית ויותר פעילות מבצעית תחת אש.
בכל לילה אני נכנס למיטה הזוגית שלי כאדם חופשי, ובכל בוקר אני מתעורר בשטח בגודל של מגבת מטבח, כשאיבדתי תחושה ביד שמאל, הברך שלי תקועה במסגרת המיטה וגפן שוכב לרוחב כאילו הוא שומר בגופו על קו הגבול בין ישראל ללבנון.
יש לי מיטה זוגית.
על הנייר.
בפועל, זו דירת שותפים קטנה עם בעיות תכנון קשות.
גפן ישן כמו שעון מחוגים או טלפון חוגה למתחכמים מבנינו.
למי שצעיר מדי ולא יודע מה זה טלפון חוגה, תשאלו את ההורים שלכם. הם כבר יסבירו לכם איך פעם, כדי לחייג למישהו, היינו צריכים לבצע אימון אצבעות פונקציונלי ולחכות שהגלגל יחזור למקום.

לקראת הבוקר הוא בשלוש, עם רגל אחת על הצוואר שלי והברך השנייה במקום בגוף הגברי שאף אבא לא אמור לקבל אליו בעיטה מתוך שינה.
אני לא יודע אם הילד חולם שהוא כדורגלן או שהוא פשוט מתאמן לקראת המונדיאל, אבל לפי כמות הבעיטות שאני מקבל בלילה, יש לנו בבית את יורשו של מסי.
רק שמסי לפחות מכוון לשער.
גפן מכוון לאבא.
לני, לעומתו, כמעט לא בועטת.
לני פועלת בשיטה אחרת.
באמצע הלילה, בלי התראה ובלי לבקש אישור, היא פשוט מטפסת עליי.
לא לידי.
עליי.
מניחה ראש על החזה שלי, יד על הצוואר, רגל על הבטן ומצמידה אליי את כל הגוף הקטן שלה כאילו אני לא אדם שזקוק לחמצן, אלא מזרן חימום אנושי שנרכש במיוחד עבורה.
אם אני מנסה בעדינות להזיז אותה כדי להחזיר זרימת דם לאיברים החיוניים שלי, היא מתעוררת לשנייה, מהדקת את החיבוק ואומרת:
״אבא, ככה אני רגילה לישון מגיל אפס.״
וזהו.
נגמר הדיון.
מה אני אמור לענות לטיעון משפטי כזה?
״גברתי, הרגל של שש שנים אינה מקימה זכות קניינית על בית החזה של אביך״?
אין לי סיכוי.
אני שוכב שם, לא נושם, עם צוואר תפוס ושלפוחית מלאה, ומחכה שהיא תחליט לשחרר אותי בערבות.
אנשים אומרים לי

מנורות לילה.
כל התנאים הנדרשים לשינה מושלמת.

ומבחינתם, הפרט הזה קצת קריטי.
גם מבחינתי.
אני יודע שמתישהו הם יצטרכו להתרגל לישון לבד.
אני יודע שעצמאות היא חלק מהחיים.
אני יודע שהתפקיד שלי כאבא הוא לא רק לחבק אותם, אלא גם ללמד אותם להסתדר בלעדיי.
אני יודע שילד צריך לדעת להירדם במיטה שלו, להתמודד עם החושך, להרגיע את עצמו ולהרגיש בטוח גם כשאבא לא נמצא במרחק של שבעה סנטימטרים מהאף שלו.
אני יודע את כל התאוריה.
אני פשוט פחות טוב בפרקטיקה.
כי עבור אנשים אחרים זו אולי שאלה של הרגלי שינה.
עבורי זו שאלה הרבה יותר עמוקה.
יותר מורכבת.
ואם אני כנה עד הסוף, גם הרבה יותר כואבת.
אנשים רואים שני ילדים בני שש שנכנסים בכל ערב למיטה של אבא.
אני רואה שני תינוקות בני שנה וחצי שהחזיקו אותי בחיים בתקופה שבה החיים שלי התפרקו.
הם לא ידעו שהם עושים את זה.
הם לא קמו בבוקר, קיימו ישיבת הנהלה והחליטו
״טוב, אבא במשבר. אנחנו צריכים להתגייס.״
הם היו תינוקות.
הם לא ידעו מה זה גירושים.
הם לא הבינו למה הבית משתנה.
הם לא הכירו מילים כמו פרידה, דיכאון, חרדה, כישלון או התרסקות.
הם רק ידעו שאבא שם.
ואני?
אני ידעתי שהם שם.
לפעמים זה היה הדבר היחיד שידעתי בוודאות.
כשהתגרשנו, לא התפרקה לי רק זוגיות.
התפרק עולם שלם.
בית.
משפחה.
זהות.
תוכניות.

מדבר עם אנשים.
אפילו מחייך.
אני הרי יודע לחייך כשצריך.
אני יודע להעלות תמונה.
אני יודע לכתוב משפט חזק.
אני יודע להגיד לאחרים שהכול יהיה בסדר.
זה אפילו חלק מהעבודה שלי.
רק שלא תמיד ידעתי להגיד את זה לעצמי ולהאמין.
בלילה, כשהדלת נסגרה והעולם הפסיק להסתכל, כל השרירים שהחזקתי איתם את עצמי במשך היום היו נשמטים.
השקט היה נכנס הביתה.

כמו מצוף שנזרק אל אדם שנאבק להחזיק את הראש מעל המים.
הים סביבי היה סוער.
ואני לא כותב את זה כמטאפורה יפה.
הוא היה פאקינג סוער.
היו ימים שהרגשתי שאני טובע.
לא בצורה דרמטית של סרט, עם מוזיקה עצובה ברקע ושחקן חתיך שבוכה באופן פוטוגני מול החלון.
טביעה אמיתית היא הרבה פחות יפה.
לפעמים היא נראית כמו אדם שלא מצליח לקום מהמיטה.
לפעמים היא אדם שיושב ברכב עוד עשרים דקות כי אין לו כוח לעלות הביתה.
לפעמים היא חיוך גדול מול כולם ואז התפרקות בשירותים.
לפעמים היא לא להרגיש כלום.
ולפעמים היא להרגיש הכול בעוצמה שאי אפשר לשאת.
ובתוך הים הזה היו שתי ידיים קטנות.
הן לא ידעו לשחות.
הן אפילו לא ידעו לומר משפט שלם.
ובכל זאת, הן החזיקו אותי.
לא מפני שהן ניסו להציל אותי.
אלא מפני שהייתי אבא שלהן.

מבחינתם הייתי חשוב כי ידעתי להכין בקבוק.
כי הרמתי אותם כשהם בכו.
כי חיבקתי אותם בחושך.
כי כשהם פקחו עיניים באמצע הלילה, אני הייתי שם.
יש אנשים שניצלו בזכות טיפול.
יש כאלה שניצלו בזכות אמונה.
יש אנשים שניצלו בזכות חבר, משפחה, עבודה או מטרה.
אני נעזרתי בחלק מהדברים האלה.
אבל בלילות הקשים ביותר, המצוף שלי לבש פיג׳מה.

על זה שאין תירוצים.
מובס בארבע וחצי בבוקר על ידי ילדה חצי ישנה עם שיער פרוע.
לפעמים אני נשכב לעוד דקה.

הדקה הזאת כמובן הופכת לעשר דקות, ואני מאחר לאימון שהבטחתי לעצמי לא לאחר אליו.

היא מחזיקה בערך ארבע דקות.
אחר כך לני מטפסת עליי, גפן דוחף לי רגל לבטן, ואני מבין שגם הערב הממשלה נפלה.
אבל אני יודע עוד משהו.
אני יודע שיום אחד זה ייגמר.
לא כי אחליט.
לא כי מישהו יעיר לי.
לא כי אקרא מאמר ואבנה תוכנית מסודרת בת חמישה שלבים להפרדת ילדים ממיטתו של אבא עייף.

לראשונה זה שנים אצליח לישון שמונה שעות רצופות.
וכל האנשים שאמרו לי שזה מה שצריך לקרות יהיו צודקים.
סוף סוף תהיה לי המיטה לעצמי.

ואני כנראה אקום.
אלך לחדרים שלהם.
אעמוד ליד הדלת.
אראה אותם ישנים במיטות שלהם, גדולים ועצמאיים כפי שכולם אמרו שהם צריכים להיות.
וארגיש גאווה.
כי זה הרי התפקיד שלי.
לגדל אותם כך שלא יזדקקו לי תמיד.
לתת להם ביטחון שמאפשר להם להתרחק.
לבנות להם שורשים חזקים, ואז לא להחזיק להם את הכנפיים כשהם מתחילים לעוף.

אולי זו הסיבה שאני לא ממהר.
לא מפני שאני לא יודע שצריך לשחרר.
אלא מפני שאני יודע היטב שהזמן לא מחכה שאהיה מוכן.
הוא כבר לקח לי את התינוקות.
הוא החזיר לי שני ילדים בכיתה א׳, מנהלים משא ומתן, מתווכחים איתי, מתקנים אותי ויודעים להפעיל את הטלוויזיה טוב ממני.
עוד רגע הוא ייקח גם את הילדים הקטנים האלה ויחזיר לי מתבגרים שיסגרו את הדלת ויבקשו שאדפוק לפני שאני נכנס.
אני לא תמים.
אני לא חושב שאוכל לעצור את הזמן בכך שאשאיר אותם במיטה שלי.
אני גם לא רוצה לעצור אותו.
אני רוצה לראות אותם גדלים.
לומדים.
מתחזקים.
מגלים מי הם.
אני רוצה להיות שם בכל התחנות.
אבל מותר לי גם לכאוב את מה שנגמר בדרך.
מותר לי לא למהר להיפרד מרגעים שעוד מעט יהפכו לזיכרונות.
מותר לי להבין שעצמאות היא חשובה, ובאותו זמן להודות שהחיבוק שלהם בלילה מרפא בי מקומות שעוד זוכרים איך מרגישה התרסקות.
שתי האמיתות יכולות לחיות יחד.
כמו אהבה ועייפות.
כמו שחרור וגעגוע.
כמו אבא שרוצה שהילדים שלו יגדלו, אבל מבקש מהזמן בשקט:
לא כל כך מהר.
אני כן אעזור להם לעבור למיטות שלהם.

כדי שיום אחד יוכלו להתרחק כשהם מלאים בביטחון שאבא שלהם מעולם לא דחה את היד שחיפשה אותו בחושך.

על לני שנצמדת אליי כאילו הגוף שלי הוא המקום הבטוח ביותר שהיא מכירה.
ואני נזכר באבא ההוא, לפני כמה שנים, ששכב בחושך והרגיש שאין לו יותר במה להיאחז.
